Make Your Hardwood Floors Beautiful Again by Removing the Unsightly Scratches

It’s inevitable! If you have kids, pets, or even heavy furniture, the hardwood floor that you are so proud of will eventually get a few scratches. You could do what a lot of people do and cover the scratches with a rug, or you could use this hardwood floor care technique to completely remove the scratches for good!

I could easily write a long tutorial showing you how to remove the scratches from your hardwood floor, but Kendra Dahlstrom did such a fine job on her tutorial at ehow.com, I thought I would just share her method with you.

How To Install Floating Hardwood Floors

In the last couple of days, I’ve been talking a lot about floating hardwood floors and their benefits. Here is the post talking about the speed and ease of installation of floating floors, and here is a post talking about how floating floors can save you a lot of headaches in the future.

Today, I want to write more about the ease of installation. Actually… Instead of writing about it, I want to show you a video that shows you exactly how easy this kind of installation really is.

The video talked about many reasons why floating hardwood floors are so simple to install. First, they can be installed on top of just about anything. No matter what kind of base you have, you shouldn’t have any problems using floating floors in your home. Also, the video talks about how the new floor doesn’t need to be secured to the base (thats why they are called “floating”). Instead, the wood panels are attached to one-another using glue. This point alone will save you an enormous amount if time and work during your install.

If you are still not sold on floating hardwood floors, I don’t know what else it will take! They are simple to install and just as durable as alternative options.

Another Reason To Use Floating Hardwood Floors

In a previous post about installing hardwood floors the easy and fast way, I talked about how using floating hardwood floors can make your installation much easier. Today, I want to talk about another reason (other than speed) why you should use floating floors.

All wood is sensitive to changes in humidity. If there is a major change in the level of humidity in your home, your flooring could possibly expand or contract. This will cause the floor boards to move and will probably result in gaps or cracking. Floating hardwood floors will stop this from happening. Since the floor boards are connected to themselves instead of connected to the ground (like conventional wood flooring), a change in humidity will cause the whole floor to move as one piece. That means no cracking or gaps what-so-ever.

So… You can install floatingĀ  floors quicker than their alternatives. Plus, you won’t have to worry about your floor cracking or developing gaps. I don’t see why anyone would choose a different route with their floors!

Do you have a reason why you feel people should stay away from floating floors? Share your opinion using the comment form below.
